HTC To Launch Low Cost Smartphones Next Year
HTC has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with ST Ericsson to co-work
in the development of these phones. Taiwan-based
HTC along with ST Ericsson is going to develop a series of low cost
smartphones, which will hit the market sometime next year. HTC has
signed an agreement with ST Ericsson to design and co-develop a
processor for its cheaper
smartphones that will be arriving next year.
HTC is considering entering the smartphone market with its cheapest
smartphone in the
market for Rs 9,000.
According to a report by China Times, the company has already signed a
memorandum of
cooperation with ST Ericsson to co-work in the development of these
phones. However,
there has been no confirmation on the news from any side.
As of now, the company has not disclosed any details about the
upcoming smartphones, but it seems HTC is not happy with Qualcomm,
which is the chipset supplier for the company.
Currently, HTC develops smartphones based on Windows 7 and Android
platforms, which are open operating systems.
HTC has been facing hardships and losing its market shares but in the
current quarter, the company expects to accelerate its profit to 55
